1982 Lotus Turbo Esprit

Perhaps Britain’s first true supercar, the Lotus Turbo Esprit was the culmination of the Esprit line and the last model designed by Lotus founder Colin Chapman before his death. Streamlining advances made with the 1980 Essex Turbo Esprit, the production Turbo married Giorgetto Giugiaro’s iconic Italian body style and a 2.2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that was more appropriate for the “exotic” class to which the type belonged. Although still not the most powerful car on the market, the Turbo Esprit could accelerate from 0 to 60 MPH two-tenths of a second faster than the contemporary Ferrari 308, and after starring as 007’s wheels of choice in For Your Eyes Only, the Turbo Esprit assumed its place as an ‘80’s legend for fans of British cars and Bond alike.

Built using Jerry Builds Bricks’ instructions with some rather extensive modifications to the doors and rear, as well as the interior.
