British Rail Class 42 “Warship”

A British Rail Class 42 “Warship” diesel-hydraulic locomotive, with all-yellow ends and an overall maroon paint scheme, as seen on BR locomotives operating on former London, Midland, and Scottish Railway lines from 1955 to 1966. Entering BR service in 1958, all but two engines of this class bore the name of a Royal Navy vessel, such as Intrepid or Glory, and the last of the total 38 built was withdrawn in late 1972.
