Fifty-five years ago today, Charles Schulz's cartoon special It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown aired for the first time on television. While Charlie Brown and his friends were out trick-or-treating, Snoopy made his screen debut as the World War I flying ace, whose sole objective was to find the Red Baron and shoot him down. Snoopy’s airborne duel with von Richthofen left his dog house riddled with bullet holes, but the brave beagle lived to fight another day.
